THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH FOR VOLUNTEERING. You all did an amazing job today and I really appreciate it. Thank you all for your hard work and cheerleader skills. An event of this magnitude could not take place without each and every one of you. Several of you mentioned that you have the Ironman bug and wanted to know about the early sign up for next year based on your volunteering this year. The registration starts at 9 a.m. and last until 11 a.m. and will be at the Waterway Parking Lot where the expo and athlete check in was on Thurs and Friday. That is the parking lot across the street from Gooses Acres.
Please remember the Athlete Awards & Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on Sunday, May 18th from 12:30-1:30 pm at the Marriott Convention Center. You are all invited to attend. You will need to wear your volunteer shirt (or if it is dirty carry it in a Ziploc baggie) as your entry into the banquet!
If you want to come back as a volunteer for this same location next year you will want to sign up for Run Course Aid Station #7 next year due to the renumbering of the aid stations. Thank you all again for your hard work today.
Luke's is having a Boston Run this Wednesday. The run is leaving Luke's at 6:30pm. We are encouraging runners & walkers to wear Boston colors or Boston gear.
Hope to see some fellow Running club friends there!
The TWRC Board has scheduled our General Membership Meeting to be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Rico's in Alden Bridge at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to elect the Board for the new term. The slate is as follows:
To help educate and remind all runners to run safe, the RRCA is embarking on a yearlong, public-safety, awareness campaign starting with the launch of the Run Smart : Run Safe animated video developed by Space Chimp Media. This message is designed to remind both new and regular runners to be aware of their surroundings at all times and to never trust drivers on the road.
The RRCA’s goal is to get as many runners as possible, including youth, to view the message, enhance their personal safety efforts on the run, and to share the message with fellow runners. Clubs, training programs, and events are encouraged to embed this message in their websites, share it in newsletters, share with local media outlets, and more. Be sure to pass it on!
From The Woodlands Marathon Volunteer Coordination Team...
We are in need of about 50 volunteers for race setup at 4am tomorrow (3/1) morning. We are not sure how long it will take so we can't have anyone that's working the Water Stops or on the course. Others that have early morning shifts at the race site (Town Green Park) are welcome to help but will need to report to their other shifts on time. I put the end time at 6:00am but it may take longer.
This is a last minute addition and because its last minute we've decided to award bonus shifts to anyone that comes out to help. Anyone who comes to help out will receive 1.5 credits towards their group totals. This is a great chance to push your group over that donation level to get even more for your cause.
If you want to help us out please register for the Last Minute Setup position on the volunteer registration site (http://www.doitsports.com/volunteer2/jobs-by-date.tcl?event_id=213688) and don't forget to include your groups name in the comments section.
Thank you very much and we really appreciate all your help this weekend. Those of you that have helped out so far have done a great job and I've heard nothing by positive feedback from the athletes and the coordinators.
