***URGENT*** Volunteers needed for Ironman Texas - Run Course Aid Station #6 - Sat. Oct 9th

On Saturday October 9th (confirmed new date), The Woodlands Running Club will once again manage the Run Course Aid Station #6 in East shore (200 yards west of the East shore Club House) and we need about 100 volunteers for the three shifts:

o Run Course Aid Station #6 SHIFT #1: 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM
o Run Course Aid Station #6 SHIFT #2: 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM
o Run Course Aid Station #6 SHIFT #3: 6:30 PM to 11:45 PM

About the Races

GREAT, cool day for a run!

After 15 years of leading the TWRC runs, JoAnn has passed the baton. Debbie and Joel will lead the Sunday Runs going forward. BIG thanks to JoAnn for 750 runs and 1000s of miles.

UPDATE - Use TWRC for a $10 discount off each registration (either the team relay which is great for families and includes the 5K or the individual chip-timed 5K).

Join us at Southern Star Brewing Co. on March 27, 2021 from 9-11:30am for a team relay race through a chip-timed 5K and fitness and service challenges put on by local organizations! All registrations include a custom pint glass and beverage (beer or soda)!

If you prefer to just race the chip-timed 5K as an individual, we have an option for that too!

College scholarships to be awarded to high school seniors on behalf of The Woodlands Running Club: $2000 to one male and one female and possibly $1000 to one male and one female if we have enough applicants.

For nine years The Woodlands Running Club has organized and manned Aid Station #6 along the marathon route of the Texas Ironman held in The Woodlands each spring. In September, the Foundation invited us to submit an application for funds that in some way address Covid-19 needs. We applied for money to award 30 free family memberships, prioritizing members who have children in our Juniors Program. The Foundation gave us $2500, almost triple our application. Funds not used by June 30th must be returned, and we have to keep records.

Members, particularly those with children in the Juniors program, who have been financially hurt
by Covid-19 are invited to send an email to both:

President@thewoodlandsrunningclub.org and Treasurer@thewoodlandsrunningclub.org

with a brief statement of your Covid-related circumstances and requesting a refund of membership fees already paid.

New members should use our regular enrollment procedures, then request reimbursements.
Funds will be distributed in the order of receipt until exhausted or June 30th.

This email is being sent to current and former members. Even if you are no longer a member because you have moved away or for another reason, please help us spread the word.

• Do not run if you are feeling sick or ill or have a fever.
• Maintain social distancing, even while running.
• Avoid socializing before and after the run, especially without a wearing mask.

We are ready and excited to start the 2020-2021 season for The Woodlands Running Club - Juniors! We will kick off the season this Saturday, September 12th at 8 a.m. at The Woodlands High School 9th grade campus. Please meet in the bleachers next to the track which is located to the rear of the campus. There is ample parking adjacent to the track.

Due to social distancing suggestions at this time, we will be limiting to 50 runners and ask that only 1 parent per family attend.

It is with deep gratitude that TWRC thanks Julia and Gabriel Belforti for leading our Juniors Running Program for four years. It is equally a pleasure to inform you that Julie Verville has taken the baton. With the unanimous enthusiasm of Julie and the Board we want to provide our youngsters with multiple opportunities each week to be outside.

While the TWRC Sunday run is back up and running (as of 5-24-20) but other group runs are not. For example, Fleet Feet has not yet restarted their Thursday evening runs.

Hot and Humid Houston Summer! Still running, still social distancing

Hello, I'm Vince Varallom the race director for "The Great American Relay" and we are looking for runners in Texas to help us on our way from Boston to California. This is a real relay, not virtual. We are running for 36 consecutive days in 379 legs. The route has 22 legs in Texas from October 8th to 10th. Runners can register on the website, www.greatamericanrelay.com.
