London Marathon 2013 Trip Information

2013 London Marathon

For TWRC members interested in participating in the 2013 London Marathon, please be advised of an alternative method of possibly gaining entry into the marathon without relying on the lottery system utilized by the London Marathon. Tony Allison and Don Cole (both participants of the TWRC squad traveling to the 2011 Berlin Marathon) have been researching means for guaranteed entry into the 2013 London Marathon and hope to interest other TWRC club members into joining them in putting together a TWRC delegation for the 2013 London Marathon.

Marathon Tours & Travel out of Boston is guaranteed 300 entries into the 2013 London Marathon (the 2012 London Marathon is already sold out) and offers members of their Seven Continents Club to have an initial priority to utilize these 300 spots prior to offering entries to other travelers attempting to gain entry through Marathon Tours & Travel. While entry as a Seven Continents Club is not a 100% guaranteed entry into the London Marathon, Marathon Tours has advised that past Seven Continent Club members have always secured entry into the London Marathon in advance of other travelers going to the London Marathon and utilizing the services of Marathon Tours. (I.e. There were not 300 members of the Seven Continents Club requesting entry into past London Marathons).

An entry form to join the Seven Continents Club is attached and requires a one-time membership fee of $100. For anyone interested in going to the 2013 London Marathon via the Seven Continents Club, it is suggested that you join the Seven Continents Club in the very near future. If your really interested in going to the 2013 London Marathon, think of it as a $100 insurance policy). Marathon Tours advises that around June 1, 2012, they will open up a short window of 2-4 weeks for Seven Continents Club members to have a priority sign-up opportunity for the 2013 London Marathon. Seven Continents Club members that successfully gain registration will be required to book a minimum 3-4 day travel package via Marathon Tours & Travel. Note: Tony Allison advises that he used Marathon Tours for his Antarctica Marathon trip and there were several non-running travelers using Marathon Tours as they were cheaper than other travel companies.
