THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH FOR VOLUNTEERING. You all did an amazing job today and I really appreciate it. Thank you all for your hard work and cheerleader skills. An event of this magnitude could not take place without each and every one of you. Several of you mentioned that you have the Ironman bug and wanted to know about the early sign up for next year based on your volunteering this year. The registration starts at 9 a.m. and last until 11 a.m. and will be at the Waterway Parking Lot where the expo and athlete check in was on Thurs and Friday. That is the parking lot across the street from Gooses Acres.

Please remember the Athlete Awards & Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on Sunday, May 18th from 12:30-1:30 pm at the Marriott Convention Center. You are all invited to attend. You will need to wear your volunteer shirt (or if it is dirty carry it in a Ziploc baggie) as your entry into the banquet!

If you want to come back as a volunteer for this same location next year you will want to sign up for Run Course Aid Station #7 next year due to the renumbering of the aid stations. Thank you all again for your hard work today.

UPDATE 4/21

Hi everyone,

It is now just a little under a month until the event. Our first shift has filled up, but there are still openings on shift 2 and 3 if you are interested in those shifts or know of someone who might be just point them to the website to volunteer. Since we are changing the theme this year to a MASH theme we have no decorations made so far. So I am trying to determine if any of you are interested in maybe getting together to make some signs etc for the aid station. I would like to recommend that we consider having this work day(s) on Saturday May 3 and/or Saturday May 10. The 3rd may work better for some since the weekend of the 10th is Mother's Day. If you are interested in being a part of this work day, please just e-mail me and let me know your preference of dates. On the 3rd it would have to be afternoon for me, but that in no way means others could not get together prior to me getting there. Once I hear back from people that are interested, I will get an e-mail out
to those people who want to meet and the date they are available. IF you are an artistic creative person who wants to spearhead this please let me know, because I lack both creativity and artistic ability. Even if you are not able to make it out to the work day, but have ideas please let me know so that maybe we can incorporate them into the project.

Thank you all again for volunteering. It will undoubtedly be hot as it has in prior years but even in the heat and long day we can still have fun while supporting the athletes.

It is IM Texas time again! Calling all TWRC members, please volunteer for at least one shift at Water Station #6. We had a great time last year.

Like last year, there are 3 shifts on Saturday, May 17th (10:00 - 2:30, 2:30 - 6:30 and 6:30 - 11:45). Unlike last year, you do not have to be a club member to volunteer, it is open to everyone so PLEASE sign up early if you want work a particular shift!

In addition to being a great way to support these athletes and raising money for our scholarship fund it is really a lot of fun. It is amazing to watch these athletes attempt to make it through to the finish line before the midnight cut off. You will see everything from the elite Ironmen to first timers that will be struggling and need support to get to the finish line.

So now - how do you sign up! Well it is going to be a multi-part process. Here is the process:
1. Determine what shift(s) you want to volunteer for. If you are volunteering for several shifts you will need to repeat the process for each shift.
a. SHIFT 1 - 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
b. SHIFT 2 - 2:30 - 6:30 PM
c. SHIFT 3 - 6:30 - 11:45 PM

2. Go to the website http://www.doitsports.com/volunteer2/jobs-by-date.tcl?event_id=212474 and sign up for a shift or two...
